Testing Spirit Week

2025 SPRING KSA TESTING As the school year winds down, we must prepare for state testing. Students in grades 3 through 5 will take the Kentucky Summative Assessment (KSA) starting May 13th. To prepare for the KSA, please help make sure: students are in school each day of testing, students get a good night’s sleep, and students eat a good breakfast each morning. The schedule for testing is as follows: May 13th - 3rd - 5th grade reading May 14th - 3rd - 5th grade reading May 15th - 3rd - 5th grade math May 16th - 3rd - 5th grade math May 19th - 4th grade science / 5th grade social studies May 20th - 5th grade social studies May 21st - 5th grade editing and mechanics May 22nd - 5th grade on demand writing May 23rd - 5th grade on demand writing If you have any questions, please call Ms. Flannery at 965-3171.

Saturday, February 1st was an amazing day for elementary academic teams. Sand Gap elementary hosted a wonderful District Governor's Cup tournament. On Tuesday, November 12th, students in 1st and 2nd grades were treated to an interactive science event with a field trip to the Lexington Children's Museum. Students participated in a variety of fun and educational activities. Thank you to all teachers and staff who helped to make this trip a huge success. This trip was made possible by Partners for Rural Impact (PRI).

There is snow in the Gap! - but only on canvas. Students in 2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grades were visited by Ms. Grace Henderson, a teaching artist with decades of experience. Ms. Grace led students in the creation of a snow family painting. The painting included a variety of painting techniques to create a winter wonderland. Thank you to all teachers who allowed students to participate. This program was provided by Partners for Rural Impact (PRI).

Sand Gap Elementary was honored to have several Veteran's in our building today for our Visit with Vets event.

Sand Gap Elementary presents an Olf Fashion Fall Festival. Come join us for games, live music, a silent auction and much, much more. The event is Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM.

No School – Monday, September 9, 2024 The safety of our students and staff is our top priority in Jackson County Public Schools. We want to adhere on the side of caution and cancel school tomorrow, Monday, September 9, 2024.

Jackson County Schools is partnering with state and local officials to monitor the situation involving the person of interest still on the loose for the shooting. We will keep our school community updated as more information is received and a plan for tomorrow is developed. The safety of our students and staff is our primary focus and we will always put the safety of our school community first in our decision making.
